We’re thrilled to see the Government implement a plan which will allow more Canadians to access subsidized Dental Care.
While the CDCP is not perfect, it is a start, and we look forward to seeing improvements made as the Plan continues to be rolled out.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
- The CDCP is a subsidized care plan – NOT a free plan
- The federal government decided not to fully fund the CDCP: the fees the CDCP follow for dental services are 20% lower on average than the fees set by the British Columbia Dental Association which our office follows. Therefore, if you have “100% coverage” under the CDCP, you will still have a portion to payable to our office for the difference in the fee the CDCP covers, and our fees charged.
- There are frequency limitations to what the plan will cover and not all services are covered
- The British Columbia Dental Association continues to advocate for equity in the fees covered under the CDCP, and we suggest reaching out to your Local Member of Parliament to request the same
- The CDCP is a government dental benefit and is different from private insurance plans
- The CDCP is intended and designed for Canadians who do not have dental benefits and should not take away the benefits that people already have, including existing workplace or private dental plans.
- As health care providers, Dr Zomar, Dr Pearce and Dr Huda will make a treatment plan based on your dental needs. We treat YOU as an individual, not your dental plan
- Our office will provide you with an estimate of your amount payable for planned treatment which is not covered under the CDCP prior to your appointment
